Transportation

MonorailOne thing that sets the Polynesian apart from not only the other Deluxe Resorts but even the other Monorail Resorts is its access to Disney transportation. You have the Resort Monorail located on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House that makes a stop at the Grand Floridian, the Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary Resort and the Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC). You also have buses that you can board at the bus stop at the Polynesian.

Mobility

MobilityDisney's Polynesian Resort has done much over the years to help those with mobility issues. Their superior transportation options are not only helpful to families but those that are in wheelchairs. Also there are many improvements throughout the resort that have been made to be within the ADA standards. Add to that larger than normal rooms and you have a great resort experience even if you have challenges.

Activities

ActivitiesAll Walt Disney World resorts have activities for kids but the Polynesian seems to be popular with families for two reasons. One is the transportation makes it easy to spend less time getting in and out of the parks, and the second reason is because of all the activities that the Polynesian has to offer kids.

Shopping

ShoppingThere is much to do at the Polynesian but some love to shop and there are some nice things to browse or buy. Browsing the Polynesian shops is sort of like shopping in Adventurland but with much better food options close by.

Many guests from other resorts take a trip over to the Polynesian just to shop.

Pools

PoolsLets take a look at what the Polynesian has for cooling off. The original Polynesian pool was replaced in March 2001 with the new Nanea Volcano pool. the original volcano pool was the only pool from 1971 till 1978. As you can see from the old postcard (below), the pool use to have a diving board at the deep end. This board was later removed. This pool was not the first volano slide in Florida but it was the most copied.
