Disney announced the 8:00pm Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show at Disney's Polynesian Resort has been cancelled for Friday, January 30, 2009, due to the cold weather forecasted. The 5:15pm show remains scheduled. This might be a good sign that if you are traveling to Disney soon that it might get cold.
Tikifest 2009
Well I am getting very excited about 2009. I think it is going to be a great year to go to Disney World.
I was worried when we decided to change the Tikifest party to the dessert party but we are trying to be mindful of how people are being affected by the economy. To have the same party we had last time was going to increase the ticket cost by quite a bit and we all wanted to make this an affordable event but still be something to remember. I myself needed to keep the cost down since we have to pay for tickets for our family also.
Even Disney is trying to put out deals to help keep attendance up so we realize this is the year that people are going to really watch their money. Well the week of Tikifest is exactly what we all need. The cost you will save on your room booked through Magical Vacations using the TIkifest group rates will save you the cost of the party and more. These prices on rooms at the Polynesian, Beach Club and Grand Floridian are exclusive low rates for our group. Just like the last Tikifest group rates, people came up to me at the Polynesian and told me they could never stay there until those rates made it possible. For me it was a great feeling for them to be able to take their family somewhere they always dreamed.
The Party is now going to be an Illuminations Dessert party at Italy in Epcot. They will close off the Isola West Plaza (located on a bridge island directly in front of the Italy Pavilion).
There are going to be many desserts for adults ranging from Tiramisu to Fudge brownies along with some fun drinks like Pina Coladas, Strawberry Daquiries and a Latte Kicker cordial. Kids will have a dessert bar where they can decorate and eat cookies and cupcakes and drink all the fruit punch they want. There will also be Coffiees and teas with syrups, sugar, cream and honey.
If you would like to attend but sugar is not part of your diet than just let Magical Vacations know ahead of time and Epcot chefs said they would accommodate you with something special.
Food and drinks will be available for an hour (8 PM to 9 PM) and at 9 PM Illuminations Reflections of Earth laser and fireworks display will start and you will have prime viewing of it without fighting for a spot.
During the week or so that we are there we will have other get-togethers at the Polynesian. The drawing for stuff that we had at the last one will be one of the evenings before the Tikifest party at the beach at the Polynesian and those who have Tikifest party bracelets will get raffle tickets to put in to win the prizes. These get-togethers will be a great time for us to spend also getting to know everyone or catching up with those we already know. I have seen the list of those who are already going and it is going to be a fun group, maybe even some surprise visits by other well known Disney community people along with Imagineers and exImagineers from Imagineering in California that can share stories about all the Disney parks since they are all worked on out in California. I was even reading a news letter from Maui where Ernest Puaa (the Barefoot Warrior) might attend with his family and it would be their first visit to Disney World ever!! You might remember him from the CDs that were given out at the last Tikifest.
If you are ever visiting Maui check him out at the Barefoot Bar in Whaler’s Village or have him do a wedding for you.

10 Years already?
Another thing that makes this year special for me is that it is the 10th anniversary of my site and with all it has gone through there is going to be a HUGE change to it but that is a surprise for later.
